Sometimes we're busy. Sometimes we're quiet. Some weeks you may do lots of hours and others very few. So, you'll have to be prepared to be flexible. It can be a tough business but we try to have fun.

Everybody starts as a Catering Assistant. You'll be shown the ropes by a supervisor or manager and you'll be expected to pick things up quite quickly, although an allowance will be made depending on your experience and how many hours you work. The position means you operate anywhere within the premises - in the cafe, on the deli counter or in the kitchen. You'll be assessed for the first few weeks to identify your natural abilities and to see how you fit-in with the team.

From here, if you show an aptitude for waiting or as a barista or for preparing food and meals you'll be called upon to occupy these positions as and when required. We can provide fundamental kitchen and cooking skills, as well as barista training and waiting experience.

We run a state-of-the-art Fiorenzato Ducale triple-group espresso machine called Clifford, together with an on-demand grinder, called Reginald. They allow us to brew what we believe to be the best coffee beans available. This brief description of Cliff and Reg should make your eyes light up and ristretto, caramel and crema should be familiar to you, as well as a dry capp or a flat white!

Couscous, pasta and bean salads, soup, quiche, feta, halloumi, courgette and carrot cakes are some of what we do by-hand, every day. So, these foods and ingredients; what to do with them and how to make them, should be very familiar to you.

Quick on your feet, good communicator and a multi-tasker. If you're waiting tables or serving on our deli you'll need to be everywhere at once at busy times. You're accustomed to transmitting orders to the kitchen, dealing with customers beautifully and running like your hair's on fire! Although, we try to keep that last part to an absolute minimum, which is why we're always on the look-out for good people.[/cookie]



In our experience, this usually means you're young but that's not always the case. If you're 16 or over, we may be able to help you with the experience you need. Over the years we have given many young people the opportunity to gain skills, experience and discipline. Work is very different to school and if you're heading to college or university then being handy in the kitchen or good at waiting tables or at making coffee could benefit you during your study years.

If you come up to scratch, we can provide Saturday, and holiday work.

We employ a number of students who come and go and come again as holidays start and finish and start again! Equally, we employ people of all ages and backgrounds who work during the week or who do Saturday work. We are open six  days, including Bank Holidays, except Christmas and Boxing Day. We are part of the retail/catering/hospitality industry and it is the norm that you must be comfortable with being regularly scheduled to work weekends.



We're a tiny Company on the High Street in Boroughbridge but we do our best to provide work in a fun and sometimes very busy environment. It is up to you! Many of our employees have been with us for many years. As they have gained in experience and consistently shown their abilities we promote them to roles that better suit them: Assistant Supervisor, Catering Supervisor, Supervisor, Barista or Head Barista. We do our best to recognise and reward performance and ability.

Equally, a good kitchen or shop assistant - capable, reliable and consistent - is a valid and vital position and we value those who want to practice their trade as much as those who can handle a little more responsibility.[/cookie]
